Nearly 100 different types- all with their own scoops for you to serve yourself Woolworth’s style.. The majority of our customers are adults! If you’re ever in Didsbury (south Manchester) look for ‘A Sweet Thought’ The staff are definitely ‘hands-off’…

Just to let you know I own a sweet company called ‘Pig n Mix’ based in the North East of England. I deal with many businesses and on a daily basis set up my extensive sweet selection of between 60 & 70 sweets including many retro sweets at any one time as self serve for employees to fill their bags, literally, during breaks. The name was chosen by my wife and mirrors your sentiments exactly in that people do make a pig of themselves. I am in the process of setting up a website and postal deliveries as this business has been an idea of mine for some time and only became a reality when made redundant earlier this year. It has gone from strength to strength and the success has far exceeded my initial expectations as I offer exceptional value for money so much so that I now have companies mailing me to ask if I will include them in my portfolio instead of me contacting them so must be doing something right.

Love your pick ‘n’ mix stories, keep them coming! Seems we’re not alone in our ultimate sugar fix! Wholeheartedly agree about Woolworths.. maybe if they’d have focused their efforts on pick ‘n’ mix, we’d still be stuffing as many sweets into polystyrene cups as we could possibly squash in there… x

a cheeky trip to get pick n mix before the cinema is always a good idea as weighed pick and mix always leaves me forking out too much money!! especially as I seem to go for the heaviest sweets, like white mice and jazzles. There is a definite skill when filling up pre priced tubs followed by a quick dash through self service checkouts before the top pops off!
Its a shame woolworths went bankrupt!
