Décor Inspiration: 3 On Trend Interior Room Schemes with Colour Palette Suggestions

It’s ‘new season new look’ time of year again, but even without the added incentive of a new season it’s always nice to have a rethink and revamp of our interior room schemes. Even if it’s just a case of looking and not doing, it’s always fun just to seek inspiration. We’ve got 3 on trend interior room schemes for you here, with colour palette suggestions to get you thinking about your choices and the effect these colours have upon your décor. Playful pastels, rich wanderlust, or soothing natural elements – what’s it to be?

Playful Miami Pastels

Playful Miami Pastels is a fabulous way to bring joy and lightness of spirit to your interior room scheme. The pastel ice cream colours so redolent of Miami interiors are brought to life with Art Deco influences in the soft furnishings with their black and white geometric designs, and the stunning Art Deco inspired wallpaper would also work well. The monochrome patterns also help to sharpen up the scheme if you are not a fan of the full-on pastel. Bring in some exotic influences with animal prints and tropical plants. With the addition of a quirky pastel bedside table, and fun accessories such as the sequined cushion and pink roller skate planter, you can create a playful space with a contemporary vibe that brings a smile to your face.

Wanderlust

The Wanderlust is a jewel like room scheme that brings together influences from different cultures and fuses them together into an enticing harem like décor. From Moorish, to Egyptian, to far eastern, whatever takes your fancy, you can create your version of wanderlust. The deep green and teal walls give a sense of the warmth of exotic climes, while the gold palm tree floor lamp throws romantic shadows on the wall at night. Natural Elements

The Natural Elements interior room scheme has a calmness and serenity to it which is perfect for those of you who want to be surrounded by the colours of nature. Subtle linear banana leaf wallpaper in a soft terracotta and white palette picks up on the neutral colours of a rattan cupboard and easy chair. The jewel tones of the velvet cushions on the easy chair echo the terracotta of the wallpaper and inject some vibrancy to what could be a flat colour scheme. Mix up the textures of the velvet rattan with a leopard print goat fur cushion and a petrol hand tufted rug help to create warmth and contrast. All of this is surrounded by soft greens and lush house plants for a restful laid-back scheme.

3 Living Room Colour Schemes to Give Your Home the Wow Factor

Oh I do love Amelia’s vibrant mood boards, and today she has put together 3 living room colour schemes to give your home the wow factor. As a totally incompetent computer person I would so love to be able to produce these, but as it is beyond me I can only sigh in envy! To be able to put our lovely products together into a coherent style, and to see how they transform individual products is almost like a jigsaw puzzle. Slot this one in and see how it looks, combine those colours, and of course add a sprinkle of gold, amazing!

Moving swiftly on we have the 3 fabulous living room colour schemes for you to drool over. If you’re not a fan of pink look away now. Being a massive fan of pink I’m in my element. I did try to move away from pink for a few years (and over to the dark side), but I’m not happy and so I am also moving swiftly on, back to my default setting of pink. Let’s start with the fullest of full on pink to get you in the mood.

Penelope’s Pink Party (she’s the hostess with the mostess!)

Amelia’s take on glamorous dining. Penelope’s pink party is a charismatic and bewitching interior colour scheme for fun loving style. A joyful room with a vibrant and sensuous vibe. And, dare I say it, perfect for these lockdown times, you could have a party in here all by yourself! Pink on pink for a full on sassy extravaganza.

Jewel In My Crown

Jewel in my Crown is a luxurious, grown up room. Teal for a rich opulent base with a strong pink for contrast. Restrained pattern keeps the mood elegant and the vibe is sophisticated rather than clashing. Whoever said pink was just for girls?

Pastel Paradise

Definitely the jewel in my crown. How can you resist this palette of delicious ice cream colours? Back in the day when I had odd slots of time to make patchwork quilts I was always drawn to this colour combo. A definite Miami vibe going on here that is restful but at the same time fun, flirty and very glamorous. Who could resist? Not me.

Anyone for pink? From a full on pink extravaganza, to delightful pastel pinks, to a touch of rich pink, there is always room for pink. Add lashings of green in the form of plants and cushions, plus Audenza’s signature gold, and you have a happy, vibrant home that delights and cheers. Amelia’s Lush Pink & Teal Tropical Bathroom Scheme Reveal

At last, another room about to be completed in my house, our tropical bathroom. If you read my previous blog you will know this is my first house (a small Victorian terrace), with my boyfriend Tom, and I’m so exciting to finally be able to bring together all my ideas. And to be styling rooms, as opposed to room sets for Audenza, and of course, to be able to bring home lots of Audenza goodies!

We have a really nice big bathroom, but it’s very bland and the shower is quite old and grimy! Not quite the luxury retreat I envisaged for our first bathroom. I find mood boards really helpful, so I put one together for our bathroom renovation. An extravagant, tropical bathroom in pink and teal, with black accents to make it more striking.

Due to the Covid crisis all work came to a standstill for a few months, so I have all the lovely products but I’m now waiting for decorator and flooring people to come. The mood board has sustained me through the wait and I can’t wait to get it finished and enjoy my luxury tropical bathroom.

This is the before photo – bland and uninspiring, but large and light filled. The bath, loo and basin are of good quality and good condition so I have kept them to keep costs down. I fell in love with this black shower enclosure* with white slate tray from Big Bathroom Shop. The slim frame and very shallow tray are much more streamlined than many shower enclosures. I chose a black shower head* from them too, to complete the black theme.

The pink tiles* from Tons of Tiles are absolutely stunning and I’m having grey grouting – no more grimy discoloured grouting, hopefully!

I’m keeping the panelling, as it gives texture to the walls and creates interest, and that will be painted in one of my favourite colours, Serpentine* from Zoffany. My front room is painted in this colour as I can’t get enough of it, obviously. We have also used this colour quite a bit in previous photo shoots for Audenza and it really is a gorgeous colour, rich and warm. And last but not least, the extravagant Palmaria wallpaper* from Osborne & Little. Large teal palm leaves on a gloriously metallic background.

The final piece of the design is the vinyl flooring, which is a black and white design reminiscent of a conservatory, as I wanted a sort of palm house vibe for the bathroom. For the styling I already have several large real palm plants round the bath, but intend to supplement that with some faux plants to get the look without too much TLC. And lots of brass pots for that all essential touch of gold.

I’m so excited that it’s all finally coming to fruition and can’t wait to see the finished room after months of it being on hold. Watch this space for the full reveal of my tropical retreat.

Tropical Interior Colour Palette Inspiration

We Audenza ladies do love a tropical vibe, so Amelia has put together 3 tropical colour schemes, to give you some interior colour palette inspiration, and to see how the different colour palettes affect the look of a room. Green is the mainstay of each design, but with subtle twists that create astonishingly vibrant, but opposed, vibes. From overtly feminine, to full on masculine, to give you the idea of how colour choices change an interior project.

As we all know preparing a colour palette before beginning an interior project is the proper way to go about it. That said, I’ve never done one in my life. Shameful admission I know, but never fear, Amelia is a great fan of them so we have an expert on hand. Every room in her new home has a colour palette and mood board before work begins. It’s certainly the way to avoid mistakes, and to gather your thoughts in a coherent way. As my thoughts have never been coherent, would it work for me? Who knows, but I’ve promised Amelia the next room I redo will have its very own colour palette to start with, so we will see how that works out!

What do you think to Amelia’s tropical colour palette inspiration? I think if you are unsure of how you want a room to look, and are scared of making mistakes, a colour palette, along with a mood board, has to be a fail-safe way of bringing ideas together and marshalling your thoughts. That said, I’m possibly too old to change my ways, but I really am going to try it next time.

Hollie has nudged me to say that the time-honoured way of doing colour palettes i.e. paint samples, fabric swatches and magazine images is still the way forward for most of us. Apparently, I was implying we could all use photoshop etc to achieve the samples Amelia’s way. But, being a complete technophobe, it never occurred to me to use a computer for such things. Perish the thought!

I will admit to being very sniffy about autumn and feeling down about the long slow slide into winter – ugh. I’m not actually allowed to say that out loud as the daughters accuse me of being depressing, and tell me to shut up. But, no longer will I moan about autumn, I am now going to celebrate the amazing colours in the garden. I appreciate them for their richness, so now I’m going to bring the colours indoors, light the lamps and the candles, delight in the glow, and last but not least, get my jim-jams on early. Ah, what bliss.

Amelia’s Maximalist Teal Living Room Scheme Reveal

I’m a maximalist through and through. So, you can imagine how hard it is for me, surrounded by all the lovely Audenza products, to pin down what I actually want in my new home. It’s a small Victorian terrace so I’m limited by the size of the rooms, but it has good bones. I wanted to start with the front living room so we have somewhere welcoming and cosy to come home to that feels like us (I should, possibly, say me, as all my boyfriend really cares about is the size of the TV, but that’s good as I have very strong opinions on what I like!). I’m going to start by showing the mood board for my Maximalist Teal Living Room Scheme Reveal, because the ‘before’ photo is rather uninspiring!

It was a completely blank canvas being solely magnolia floor to ceiling, with a pine mantelpiece and fire surround, built in pine meter cupboard and laminate wood effect flooring. Where to start though in my maximalist living room scheme? Well, last year we shared 3 new season mood board ideas which I designed, and I loved the ‘Fearless Opulence’ mood board, so the design is really an extension of that. As you can tell l am passionate about rich colours, pattern, texture and gold, gold, gold, but obviously in such a small room there are limits – just!

As you can see, there’s a lot to change to create my maximalist living room scheme – luxe living with a quirky edge is how I like to describe it. The sofa is in place now though, the walls are painted in Serpentine by Zoffany* and the accessories are creeping in! The piece de resistance though has to be this amazing fabric, Cheetah by Mathew Williamson for Osborne & Little* in a startling cerise colour, which I fell in love with when researching for the blog on animal print fabrics. It’s a blend of viscose and cotton velvet with a lovely textured pile and I can’t wait to see it as roman blinds in my big bay window. It’s away being made up as we speak – oh so exciting!

3 New Season Mood Board Ideas for a Super Stylish Home

Want a new look for the new season? We’ve put together 3 interior mood board ideas to show how our products can be used in very different schemes for a super stylish home. Also, a sneaky peek look at some of our new AW18 products! Some people have a very defined style that encapsulates their whole house, but I’m a bit of a magpie at acquiring goodies and like different looks for different rooms, in order to give a space the vibe I want. My bedroom is palest pink and gold, which I like for its sense of calm and femininity, my sitting room is dark and moody with lots of splashes of colour and, of course, gold, the garden room (opening onto the garden, obvs), is a green oasis filled with plants and exotic animal touches for a jungle feel. So, whatever your taste try experimenting with different styles for different rooms.

The Daring Explorer

The daring explorer is a fun way to add an exotic element to your interior space. Large and lush tropical plants set the scene for a decidedly avant-garde look. Daringly dark green lends an intimacy to this scene, but the addition of gold creates a lightness of touch that uplifts and bedazzles. With animal imagery on the furnishings such as lamp shades and cushions you get a feel for the jungle, and make sure to add in some animal print for a really bold and on-trend safari style update, such as a zebra cowhide rug for the ultimate animal vibe. For a contrast in colour, mustard velvet works well to a colour scheme like this and adds some luxury texture, along with velvet cushions.

Fearless Opulence

Fearless opulence for the fabulous and fearless amongst you. Dare you? With the trend for rich velvets and exciting colourways this is an easy one to pull off. With plum and teal and forest green as the main components of the colour scheme you only need throw in some gold for a truly lush décor. All of these jewel tones work so beautifully together, so don’t be afraid to use the colour palette to it’s fullest here to really make the room sing. Again, a strong Hollywood Deco vibe to this interior scheme with the richness of colours, but adding in plenty of unusual quirky accessories brings it bang up to date. Such as the ‘rock on’ hand and pink neon heart light bring an uber cool and contemporary vibe to this scheme.

Iconic Elegance

Pink and gold décor is deliciously feminine and elegant. In other worlds it can be shocking or dreary or sickly, but in the Audenza world it is a gloriously glamorous and feminine haven that exudes elegance. Palest pink needs oomph adding to it to lift it up from the ordinary, and what better way than lashings of gold. Seductive and sensuous gold, of course! The tall sinuous palm tree floor lamp creates drama, and a touch of the exotic, whilst retaining a calmness. For colour contrast, teal is the perfect partner that sharpens up the scheme, and it’s important to layer up the textures for a feminine space that speaks of softness and warmth. All in all, there is a definite Hollywood vibe here, so play up the luxury for an elegant and feminine interior that is never dull (or sickly sweet).

3 Sumptuous Room Schemes to Inspire Your Next Revamp

We’ve got something a little different for you today. A recent interior design graduate, Catt Murray has designed three stunning, but each varying, room schemes for us, to give you a feel for some of the looks you can create using our products, and we’ll talk you through each look below. All 3 room schemes are very different, which highlights how our products can be used in so many different styles of décor. We hope you love them as much as we do!

The Femme Fatale

We love monochrome, we love pink, and we love gold, so what’s not to love when you combine all three for a deliciously luxe femme fatale room scheme. The monochrome Jaspe Stripe wallpaper by Cole & Son is a classic colour combo that shouts elegance, but for a decidedly feminine twist liven it up with a good strong dash of pink. Paintwork such as doors and skirting boards are in a soft pink with accessories and furniture in a mix of monochrome, pink and gold. The accents of gold create the luxe look and, as always, think about contrasts in texture such as the blush velvet armchair, feather juju wall hanging and rattan baskets, and for a dash of va-va-voom hang an exotic gold unicorn head to lift the scheme out of the ordinary. And dashing it certainly is with the sumptuous deep button armchair in orange as the centrepiece of the room scheme. The rest of the colours are neutral with Black Blue paint by Farrow & Ball and dark wood flooring. Keep pattern to a minimum with wallpaper by Zoffany and a zebra print cowhide rug. Add a gilt bar cart with lashings of gold accessories for a dashing gentleman’s club theme and throw in a few quirky pieces and whatever your gender you have a cosy, but fun, space to relax in.

The Glamorous Artisan

For an elegant pared back look that exudes glamour you can’t beat a navy and gold room scheme. Keep the basics simple with Marble wallpaper by Milton & King, Dock Blue paint by Little Greene and natural oak flooring then add a splash of colour with a stand out scalloped velvet armchair – such a hard colour to define, is it mustard, is it gold, or is it olive? Whatever it is its quite fab, mellow and rich. The clean lines of the open shelving unit and gold and marble side table allow the eye to flow through the space and create a tranquil feel, with the richness of the gold adding depth. To stop the navy and gold room scheme feeling cold layer up textures and pattern with a gold splattered cowhide rug on the floor, feather wall art and handmade wool cushions.

2 Perfect Pink Interior Colour Palettes

Today we have 2 perfect pink interior colour palettes for you to drool over, just in case you missed the previous post about pink! And if you did, check it out here: Dreamy Pink Décor Ideas, for further inspiration. Pink is my go to colour if I want some warmth and glow to my décor, from softest baby pink to full on hot pink, there has to be pink in my life and I know many of you out there feel the same, although some of you are still in the closet, or shy about admitting a fondness for this supposed feminine colour. I read an article the other day called ‘Pink Wasn’t Always Girly’ that goes into depth about the history of pink and its gender connotations that makes for an interesting read if you want some background detail.

Blush Hygeia Vase

Pantone, the global colour forecasters, launched Rose Quartz as their 2016 colour of the year (along with serenity blue) and it has been gaining momentum as a strong trend in interiors that is set to continue. Suffice to say I love the colour and think it has a place in interiors whatever your gender. Karen Haller, one of the UK’s best known Applied Colour Psychology experts has this to say about the trend for pink,

‘For whatever reason, the Millennials are a generation who care far less about what people think. They don’t see pink as being weak or needy or ‘girly’ – they see it as a vibrant colour and one amongst many they use to express themselves. They’re not entrenched with the stereotypical beliefs that go along with pink.’

Tropical Leaf Melamine Tray | Flamingo Salt & Pepper Shakers

Partnered with green it really is reminiscent of a lush spring day in all its verdant glory, and what an easy way to cheer up your interior décor, and life, come to that. The wall colour is Button, by Little Greene Paint, which is best described as a sort of beigey pink (to my mind anyway) and, although it looks slightly boring on the colour card, gives a lovely warmth to a room.

If bold and fearless colour combos is your thing then Dark Lovage, by Conran Paints, makes a great contrast against hot pink accessories. By keeping to small quantities of the hottest hue you enliven a space without overpowering the room. And quantities of gold add the luxe for a really vibrant décor.

Well that’s me finished with my eulogy to the colour pink – although I’m sure I’ve not finished on the subject for good, not until you dissenters have seen the light anyway!

3 Sumptuous Colour Palette Ideas for your Home

Daylight, glorious daylight – it’s such a transforming feeling to have more hours of daylight that it makes me start to think of my home, and my garden, in a new light and to feel ready for a change and a refresh. And the obvious place to start is with these 3 sumptuous colour palette ideas for your home. We are all drawn to certain colours but it’s not always easy to visualise how to use them in a room scheme or what colours to accent with, or even how to achieve the effect we want, be it moody, colourful, spring like or even dramatic, so Amelia has put together 3 colour palettes to give you ideas, and a reminder of this fab book we reviewed on the blog that helps you to see how colours work together.

Midnight Forest

Midnight Forest is warm and encompassing with the strong blue walls (Plimsoll, by Paint & Paper Library) whilst being fresh and zingy at the same time with a striking green velvet chair and lots of lush greenery. Greenery, as I’m sure we all know, is the Pantone Colour of the Year (and has always been a favourite of mine) and there is always a hue of green that will work in a colour scheme to enliven and refresh. Faux plants are a really easy easy way to add green to a scheme- no green fingers required.

Pastel Lustre

Pastel Lustre is such a beautiful light, airy colour combo that it’s hard to resist if you’re a pastel kind of girl. The main picture is Calamine by Farrow & Ball which is a lovely soft pink and the smaller pics are Button, by Little Greene which is a warm, almost beige hue. Add a bit of black if you want to make it more grown up and serious or a touch of gold if you want to go the glam way. Or throw it all into the mix for something a bit different.

Green with Envy

Green with envy is Amelia’s take on this colour scheme, and my personal favourite, although I’ve yet to use it in my own home but it’s under consideration as we speak!! The wall colour is Dark Lovage by Conran and is one of those elusive colours that change quite dramatically depending on the light. Nothing says grown up glamour like this strong green/blue colour paired with gold accessories and touches of marble. Certainly not for the faint hearted but oh so dramatic!
