Moving swiftly on we have the 3 fabulous living room colour schemes for you to drool over. If you’re not a fan of pink look away now. Being a massive fan of pink I’m in my element. I did try to move away from pink for a few years (and over to the dark side), but I’m not happy and so I am also moving swiftly on, back to my default setting of pink. Let’s start with the fullest of full on pink to get you in the mood.

Definitely the jewel in my crown. How can you resist this palette of delicious ice cream colours? Back in the day when I had odd slots of time to make patchwork quilts I was always drawn to this colour combo. A definite Miami vibe going on here that is restful but at the same time fun, flirty and very glamorous. Who could resist? Not me.

Anyone for pink? From a full on pink extravaganza, to delightful pastel pinks, to a touch of rich pink, there is always room for pink. Add lashings of green in the form of plants and cushions, plus Audenza’s signature gold, and you have a happy, vibrant home that delights and cheers. Blush Hygeia Vase

Pantone, the global colour forecasters, launched Rose Quartz as their 2016 colour of the year (along with serenity blue) and it has been gaining momentum as a strong trend in interiors that is set to continue. Suffice to say I love the colour and think it has a place in interiors whatever your gender. Karen Haller, one of the UK’s best known Applied Colour Psychology experts has this to say about the trend for pink,

‘For whatever reason, the Millennials are a generation who care far less about what people think. They don’t see pink as being weak or needy or ‘girly’ – they see it as a vibrant colour and one amongst many they use to express themselves. They’re not entrenched with the stereotypical beliefs that go along with pink.’

Tropical Leaf Melamine Tray | Flamingo Salt & Pepper Shakers

Partnered with green it really is reminiscent of a lush spring day in all its verdant glory, and what an easy way to cheer up your interior décor, and life, come to that. The wall colour is Button, by Little Greene Paint, which is best described as a sort of beigey pink (to my mind anyway) and, although it looks slightly boring on the colour card, gives a lovely warmth to a room.

If bold and fearless colour combos is your thing then Dark Lovage, by Conran Paints, makes a great contrast against hot pink accessories. By keeping to small quantities of the hottest hue you enliven a space without overpowering the room. And quantities of gold add the luxe for a really vibrant décor.

Well that’s me finished with my eulogy to the colour pink – although I’m sure I’ve not finished on the subject for good, not until you dissenters have seen the light anyway!

So, how do you play it? Do you go for the hot pinks or the pastel pinks? I can be drawn either way depending on the look I want to achieve – subtle or out there! I have a soft dreamy blush wallpaper in my pink and gold bedroom, which I find calming and zen like, but I did have a hot pink front door for a few years which was always a talking point. To get you in the vibe we have drawn together some stunning images of pink décor ideas in all its many guises, (be it interior or exterior) to help you visualize how to rock this fabulous hue.

Pink is perfect for outdoors. See how fabulous it is on this balcony where it echoes the planting and gives a harmonious mix with the green. Pastel pink and green is just the perfect combo.

A fabulous courtyard with two tone walls, contrasting green railings and masses of green foliage, which gives a wonderful continental feeling to this outside space.  There’s just something about green plants against a pink wall, which really works.  Try searching for #plantsonpink on Instagram and you’ll see what we mean…

If you don’t want to go the full pink this is a fab colour from Little Greene paint called Button, which looks rather drab on the shade card but gives a warm, soft glow without actually being pink and really shows off the gold tripod table and gold dog watering can.

And if you want more inspiration for pastel lustre this is my bedroom with a gorgeous wallpaper from Designers Guild in a soft blush pink (no longer available in this colourway, unfortunately) with a gold and cream flower pattern. Lots of gold with the ornate bed and bedside table for dramatic impact. And my usual quantity of mirrors, in gold, of course, to add light and reflection. My chest of drawers is in a strong turquoise because I do like some contrast but if you wanted to keep to a soft, dreamy feel it would look good in blush pink as well.

Now, no prizes for ingenuity here, but of course their obvious use is as a plate. We couldn’t well talk about 3 uses for a plate and not mention it being a somewhat delectable object from which to eat food! As a side note – have you tried the Florentines from Thomas J Fudge? They are so moreish and a firm favourite at Audenza HQ!

Displaying plates on the wall used to feel quite dated, but it still holds up as a great way to decorate a wall and with their on trend tropical design, there won’t be anything dated about these beauties adorning your wall.

What better way to make a pretty vignette than with a pink palm plate to show off a delectably feminine array of objects – be they flowers, gold insects, or even pieces of jewellery. One of our top tips for styling is to use objects such as a tray, or a plate to place the objects on. This helps to unify individual objects and create a much more cohesive look.

I used a big cardboard box opened out in the garden to spray on and chose a still day – didn’t fancy yellow feet, which there is a good chance of on a breezy day, and as usual when I have paint in my hand, searched for other things to paint.  My motto is ‘if it doesn’t move paint it’. Next up was a watering can my mother gave me the other day.  What an odd thing to give somebody, I can only presume she won it in a raffle or something similar – I didn’t ask but I know she will be offended as she doesn’t share my passion for paint.

The watering can needed a couple if light coats of Daffodil  to cover and it looks good, no drips or patchy areas.  The trick is to keep the can moving so you don’t get a build-up in one area which can run.  The chair took rather longer because of getting into the weave and also it was quite a strong colour change.  I sprayed all over lightly and then went back to it an hour or so later and sprayed a bit more.   I found I had to do this several times to get a good coverage and to get into the weave but it was worth the slower approach as it looks really good and there is no hint of the previous blue.

I moved onto plastic plant pots as I have quite a few that I use for temporary planting as they are cheap and light to move but what an eyesore they are.  The Dianthus is in a nice shaped plastic pot that I sprayed with a lovely colour called Warm Grey, very sophisticated.

This is a terracotta pot I painted several years ago with emulsion and you can see how beautifully it ages which I am not sure would happen with spray paint so I always use conventional paint on terracotta because I love that distressed look, although I have sprayed a couple of terracotta pots as an experiment to see how it ages.  We will see!
