5 Key Ingredients for the Perfect Garden
13 Jul 2015
Summer is really here – at last! We have had some lovely warm days to enjoy the garden so I thought it would be a good idea to give my 5 key ingredients for the perfect garden. Get out there and enjoy your outdoor space and think up new ways to give it a bit of extra style and drama.
1. Let there be Light
Alfresco dining has to be one of the joys of summer and what better way to light up the garden than candles strategically placed to give a soft glow. Whatever your style, from French country to stylish brass, lanterns are the perfect answer for adding ambience to the outdoors.
2. Add Height
Height is crucial to styling, both indoors and out, because it draws the eye around a scene. An étagère is the perfect solution for adding height in the garden, or even in a conservatory. It’s also the perfect solution for small gardens which don’t have a lot of space because its four shelves allow for maximum display space, that can be easily rearranged to create a new display without replanting or potting.
3. Accessorise the Garden
Decorative accessories make a garden truly unique and add the wow factor. I like to add a bit of style with carefully selected pieces that help to create stunning vignettes around the garden and bring some of the indoors out.
4. Mix and Match Pots
Urns, pots and troughs for the garden are the perfect way to make a display with seasonal plants or herbs, and don’t be afraid to mix and match different shapes and styles to create a quirky look.
5. And Finally…A place to Sit Back and Admire your Work
After all the hard work in the garden what better way to admire the view and chill out with a glass of wine than a beautifully placed garden bench. And for intimate dining (or breakfast in the sunshine) a bistro set is the perfect solution, and with so much choice from contemporary mosaic to romantic country style, it’s easy to find something you will love.
