Fabulous & Fearless Women
As a company founded by mother and daughters, Jacqui, Hollie & Amelia Brooks, we’re passionate about empowering other women to lead a fearless life. We’ve always used our platform to highlight extraordinary women, doing amazing things and since this year’s International Women’s Day theme is #ChooseToChallenge, we’d like to shine a light on some incredible women doing just that.
Our latest ‘Fabulous and Fearless Women’ interview is a brand I’m really excited to share with you. Fruity Beauties has evolved from festival trading to becoming stocked in the UK’s largest online retailer Ocado, with their Five Fruit, Organic and Fairtrade bars. As well as being delicious, they are a wholly socially conscious brand aiming to tackle issues they feel passionately about, including the growing problem of childhood obesity in the UK.
The latest addition to our ‘Fabulous & Fearless Women’ column is Kerrine Bryan. As well as being a highly accomplished electrical engineer in the energy industry, Kerrine is the co-founder and author of Butterfly Books Limited. Noticing that misconceptions and biases in careers are formed from an early age, Kerrine launched Butterfly Books to publish inspiring career themed children’s picture books for 3 to 7 year olds. Such as their recent collaboration with the British Army for ‘My Mummy is a Soldier’.
Our next Fabulous and Fearless Woman is one truly inspirational and brave lady, called Elle Wright. It was back in May 2016, that the happiest event of her life turned into the saddest. After just three days of giving birth to a beautiful baby boy, Teddy, he sadly passed away. Elle shares with us her courageous journey, how she found light during the darkest moments and how she used her story as a platform to inspire, help, and touch thousands of other women.
We’re delighted to introduce you to this month’s fabulous and fearless woman, 24-year-old dual athlete Mica Moore. With a passion for sprinting, Mica’s career has flourished, as well as taking a route that she never anticipated, when in 2016, she decided to take up bobsleigh in addition to sprinting. Mica and her partner have since gone on to achieve 8th place at the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, the best result for British women ever.
Love Disfigure was born out of a passion to raise awareness and support for those living with a disfigurement. The fabulous campaign was set-up by our next Fabulous and Fearless Woman, Sylvia Mac. Living with her own scars and tired of suffering with mental health that was also affecting those around her, Love Disfigure was the perfect antidote to help turn her own life around whilst inspiring others along the way.
We are thrilled to introduce you to our next Fabulous and Fearless woman! Meet Rebekah Marine, also known as the “Bionic Model.” Find out how this fabulous woman has used her disability to break down barriers within the fashion industry and inspired others along the way.
We’re delighted to introduce you to our next fabulous and fearless woman, Karolina Barnes, editor in chief and creative director of bookazine ESTILA. This inspiring and motivated woman shares with us ideas behind the successful bookazine, living with an illness and the vision for the future of ESTILA.
We’re delighted to introduce you to our next incredible Fabulous & Fearless Woman, Jaz O’Hara, founder of The Worldwide Tribe. What started back in 2015 as a courageous act to find the truth behind the refugee crisis in Calais, Jaz never imagined that the lifechanging trip to ‘The Jungle’ would spark an idea that would become something bigger than she’d ever imagined.
This year marks a pivotal moment in history and one that proved rather fitting for our next Fabulous and Fearless feature- 100 years since women were first given the right to vote. As part of this milestone, Bolton, Bristol, Leeds, Leicester, London, Manchester and Nottingham were named ‘Centenary Cities’ by the government to help celebrate, promote and educate people about this momentous period. We’ve taken a closer look at some of these cities and their pioneering women who helped shape history and made votes for women possible. We have a lot to thank them for ladies!
